We believe rehabilitation should set you up for a lifetime of healthy, confident movement. At Groundwork, we blend exercise rehabilitation, functional strength training and diet/lifestyle coaching to bring you a comprehensive health and fitness solution which scales as you progress.

Our goal is to empower every client with the knowledge and confidence they need to manage their own wellness.

We work with clients of all backgrounds and levels – from athletes to busy professionals, everyone is welcome! Our speciality is helping older people and those with pain or functional limitations get started on their fitness journey.

I am a physiotherapist from the UK with an MSc in Exercise Science, qualifications in personal training and over two decades of gym experience. My sessions take a biopsychosocial approach which sees clients as individuals and focusses on physical rehab or training alongside educational and lifestyle interventions.

My passion is strength training and I love to share this knowledge and empower others through workshops and education. My current research interests are the role of resistance training for clinical populations, and the effect of diagnostic labels in musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice.

The first step for new clients

Our comprehensive physical and functional assessments examine problem areas and determine where you’re at in terms of mobility, strength and other key attributes.

We identify current limitations and opportunities, and create a personalized plan based on you and your goals. 

Each assessment includes:

  • Detailed background and history taking
  • A hands-on physical and functional assessment
  • Body composition analysis (for clients with fitness-based aims)
  • Discussion of preferences, needs, goals
  • A personalised training / rehab plan

In-person guided rehab sessions

Sessions for people who have had a physical assessment and want extra advice and support in managing their recovery. This includes guiding exercises for improving range of motion, strength, endurance, and confidence while providing feedback and managing pain and symptoms.

Conditions we work with:

  • Pain or injuries in joints, muscles and other soft tissues
  • Diagnosed neck and back pain, including sciatica and nerve issues
  • Mobility restrictions and postural issues
  • Muscle weakness, balance and coordination issues
  • Other physical limitations following surgery, illness or falls

We offer two levels of personal training package, depending on the level of support required.

We advise less experienced clients to begin with the Comprehensive Package, and switch to the Light as their confidence and skills improve.

Details

Our light package is designed to give you the benefits of a PT while fostering independence to manage your own fitness journey. It’s perfect for people with some basic fitness experience and access to a gym or home workout equipment.

You get a full physical assessment which is used to create a 100% personalised exercise program designed to address your needs and goals, alongside advice on nutrition and recovery.

We train together in our private gym 1x a week to enable real-time feedback and advice. This is also a chance to check in on your diet and lifestyle for the previous week, and make adjustments as needed.

The rest of your sessions are programmed in our training app and completed independently in your own home or gym, with online support available.

Details

Our comprehensive package is best for people with little exercise experience, or those who need more help getting started.

Alongside our regular physical assessment, goal setting and exercise program, you’ll get a much higher level of support in all areas.

All training will be in-person 2x a week at our private gym, enabling us to closely develop your technique and make adjustments as needed. These sessions will also have an educational component to give you the skills to manage areas such as nutrition, lifestyle and mobility training for yourself.

Outside of sessions, our training app will keep you moving forward with meal tracking, mobility routines and other scheduled goals. Our coach will frequently review your progress and be available for daily messaging to answer any questions you have.

Successful training requires commitment and consistency, and therefore our training packages are run and billed on a monthly basis rather than as individual sessions.
